Slowly but surely, Henrico County has been turning “blue” in the realm of electoral politics. In the February 12, 2008 PRIMARY ELECTIONS, Democrats outnumbered Republicans at the Henrico County Polls two to one (69% of the voters took a Democratic ballot).

Looking at the State-wide turnout – - Henrico County turned out more Democratic votes than any other jurisdiction besides Fairfax County. [Fairfax County led the way with 160,544 Democratic votes; Henrico County had 46,899; Arlington County 44,638; Prince William County 39,746; Chesterfield 38,780; Richmond City 35,137; Loudon County 34,984.]

This shows that Democrats in Henrico County are alive and energized!

Within Henrico County, each of the five Magisterial Districts had more Democratic voters than Republicans. The spreads were: Brookland 65% Democratic / Fairfield 86% / Three Chopt 59% / Tuckahoe 55% / Varina 78%.

Of the 91 precincts in Henrico County, the majority of the voters in 81 were Democrats, whereas the Republicans had more voters in only 9, and there was one tie.

The Henrico County Democratic Committee (HCDC) already has more members on its 2008 membership role than it did in all of 2007! Its last meeting was SRO and more than 70 Democrats attended to learn about the selection process to the Congressional, State, and National Democratic Conventions.
