Who is on the ballot? In the 7th Congressional District, Abigail Spanberger and Dan Ward are running for the Democratic nomination to run against Republican Dave Brat. Incumbents, US Senator Tim Kaine and Congressman Donald McEachin (4th CD), were unopposed for the party nomination, so there is no Democratic Primary in the 4th CD. I live in Henrico. Am I in the 4th or 7th Congressional District? The 4th CD includes Varina and part of Fairfield. The 7th CD includes Brookland, Three Chopt, Tuckahoe, and part of Fairfield. Are there any polling location changes? Due to variety of issues including construction and schools being open, there are voting location changes effecting Bonnie Brae Church, Tuckahoe Middle School, Freeman High School, Pemberton Elementary School, Skipwith Elementary School, Gayton Elementary School and Rolfe Middle School.
I cannot make it to the polls on June 12th. Can I still vote? In most instances, you can request an absentee ballot . Beginning in late-April, you can vote absentee in person at the Henrico Registrar’s office. Saturday hours are available June 9, which is the last day for in person absentee voting. You can also submit a request online or by mail to have an absentee ballot mailed to you. To receive an absentee ballot by mail, the Registrar must receive your request by 5:00 pm on Tues., June 5, 2018. Details here.
Some first-time voters cannot vote absentee by mail. Check your registration to confirm absentee by mail eligibility. Additionally, if you registered to vote by mail, you may need to submit a copy of ID with your mailed-in absentee ballot. First, be sure to bring your photo ID if you are voting in person. When you check in, provide your name and address. If you live in the 7th CD, you will be asked whether you want a Democratic or Republican ballot. When you get your ballot, check to make sure it contains the correct candidates, particularly if you live in Fairfield which is split between the 4th and 7th CDs. Make your selection for each race by completely filling in the oval next to your choice. If you make a mistake, request a new ballot.
