When is the next election?
The 2018 General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 6th. There will also be a Special Election for the Brookland Board of Supervisors seat on Nov. 6th. Polls will be open for voting from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Who is on the Democratic ballot in Henrico?
This is primarily a federal election year, with US Senator Tim Kaine, who represents all of Virginia, on the ballot. For Congress, Democratic candidates are either Congressman Donald McEachin if you live in the 4th Congressional District, or Abigail Spanberger if you are in the 7th Congressional District. Voters who live in the Brookland District will also choose their Board of Supervisor representative. Danny Plaugher is the Democratic candidate. How do I find out if I'm in the Brookland District (Plaugher) and if I'm in the 4th (McEachin) or 7th (Spanberger) Congressional District?
To determine your Districts, check your registration. Under the "Districts" section, you will see your Congressional, State Senate, House of Delegate, and Election (Magisterial) Districts. The 4th Congressional District includes Varina and part of Fairfield. The 7th Congressional District includes Brookland, Three Chopt, Tuckahoe, and part of Fairfield. What can I do to help Democratic candidates win in November?
Signup to help Henrico Dems with voter outreach at upcoming events, including the Dorey Park Farmers Market, McShin Recovery Fest, and Glen Allen Day. We will also post signups for poll greeters closer to the Nov. 6th Election.

How can I get a campaign bumper sticker or yard sign?
Use this form to request an Abigail Spanberger yard sign. Email Danny Plaugher's campaign to request a yard sign. Tim Kaine and Donald McEachin yard signs are available at Coordinated Campaign offices. Pick one up when you volunteer. Campaign yard signs with the combined Democratic ticket will be available in late-August or early September. Check back for details.

I recently moved. How do I register to vote or update my registration?
The deadline to register to vote or update your address before the Nov. 6th General Election is Monday, Oct. 15th. Submit a Registration Application with your current information. You can do this online. You can also mail the completed form to the Henrico Registrar's Office or complete the form in person at the Registrar's Office.

I don't have a driver's license. Can I still register to vote?
In order to vote in Virginia, you do need a photo ID but it does not have to be a driver's license. Click here for a list of acceptable forms of ID. You can also obtain a free Voter Photo ID at the Henrico Registrar's office by completing this form. Contact Spread the Vote for additional assistance.
How can I request a ride to the polls?
Please complete this online form or call 804-505-0757 and leave a message with your name, address, and time you would like to vote on Nov. 6th. A volunteer will contact you to coordinate your ride.
I cannot make it to the polls on Nov. 6th. Can I still vote?
In most instances, you can request an absentee ballot. Beginning in late-September, you can vote absentee in person at the Henrico Registrar's office. Saturday hours are available Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, which is the last day for in person absentee voting. You can also submit a request online or by mail to have an absentee ballot mailed to you. The Registrar must receive your request by 5:00 pm on Tues., Oct. 30, 2018. Details here.
I am a first-time voter. Can I vote absentee?
Some first-time voters cannot vote absentee by mail. Check your registration to confirm absentee by mail eligibility. Additionally, if you registered to vote by mail, you may need to submit a copy of ID with your mailed-in absentee ballot. When you receive your absentee ballot, read and follow the instructions carefully to ensure your ballot is counted. What should I expect at the polls?
First, be sure to bring your photo ID if you are voting in person. When you check in, provide your name and address. When you get your ballot, check to make sure it contains the correct candidates. Make your selection for each race by completely filling in the oval next to your choice. If you make a mistake, request a new ballot.
