Who is on the ballot?

Abigail Spanberger and Dan Ward are running for the Democratic nomination for the 7th Congressional District seat currently held by Republican Dave Brat. The 7th CD includes the following Magisterial Districts: Brookland, Three Chopt, Tuckahoe, and part of Fairfield. If you live in the 7th CD, make your plan to vote in the Primary now. Check your registration/who’s on the ballot and request an absentee ballot if you will not be able to vote in person on June 12th.

Incumbents, US Senator Tim Kaine and Congressman Donald McEachin (4th CD), were unopposed and are the Democratic nominees for those offices. They will face the winners of the Republican Primary in the November 6th General Election.

Brookland Precinct Changes

Glenside Precinct  (104) at Bonnie Brae Church of Christ merged Into Johnson Precinct (110) at Johnson Elementary School. Bonnie Brae will no longer serve as a polling place. See map.

The name of the Greendale Precinct (105) has been  updated from Dumbarton Library to Recreation and Parks Office.  Polling location remains the same. See map.

Special Rules for First-time Voters

First-time voters who registered to vote by mail, can vote absentee by mail only for certain reasons (student attending college, disability or illness, pregnancy, active duty, outside US, 65 or older). You can still vote in person on June 12th, and may still qualify to vote absentee in person. Additionally, if you registered to vote by mail, you may need to submit a copy of ID with your mailed-in absentee ballot. When you receive your absentee ballot, read and follow the instructions carefully to ensure your ballot is counted.  Details at the  Virginia Department of Elections website.  Reminder: If you will turn 18 before the  Nov. 6th General Election, you can pre-register to vote in the June 6th Primary.

Important Primary Election Dates

Frid., April 27 -Absentee voting in person begins at the Henrico Eastern and Western Government Centers. Hours are M-F, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Saturday in-person absentee voting available on June 9, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. More information at the Henrico Registrar’s website.

Mon., May 21 – deadline to register to vote or update your address before the June 12th Primary. You can do this online at the Virginia Department of Elections website.

Tues., June 5, 5:00 pm – deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you. Make your request online at the Virginia Department of Elections website.

Sat., June 9, 5:00 pm – deadline to request an absentee ballot by appearing in-person. More information at the Henrico Registrar’s website.

Tues., June 12, 6:00 am – 7:00 pm – polls open for voting in the primary. Check your registration and polling place at the Virginia Department of Elections website.
