Courtney Champion, Communications

Courtney Champion is a mother of two and has lived in Henrico since 2010. She is a native of the Gulf Coast of Alabama but happily calls Virginia home and is thrilled to be raising her children here. She is a community leader and passionate advocate with nearly a decade of experience in political organizing, public engagement, and issue advocacy.

In her various leadership roles with a national gun violence prevention organization, Courtney led a team of volunteers in political action, spearheaded public education campaigns, and supported fellow advocates through mentorship and training.

As PTA president at her son's elementary school, Courtney led an executive board of volunteers to implement school programs that directly supported student success and community involvement and created a budget that reflected the needs of a community provision school. She also led a successful effort to have the unsafe playground replaced and funded by the County after being told repeatedly the PTA had to fund it. She brings her deep sense of public service into every role and is eager to bring that passion into her role with Henrico Dems.

Courtney’s relentless advocacy is matched only by her avid baking, and she can often be found in the kitchen kneading dough by hand and making her signature salted chocolate cookies when the news cycle is too much (which is pretty much all the time these days). You can follow her on Instagram to see how she mixes her love of food and political action.
