Rachel Lawrence has been a resident of Henrico since 2001. She is a retired high school math teacher and department leader, with 27 years of service with Henrico County Public Schools. Rachel currently tutors part-time at Highland Springs High School and is an active member of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond. She is married to David, has two kids, ages 22 and 26, and is anticipating the arrival of her first grandchild in June!

 

Rachel is a life-long Democrat, often lobbying her legislators and volunteering on various campaigns as a canvasser, phone-banker or poll greeter. She became more involved when she retired from full-time teaching, scheduling volunteers at the Coordinated Campaign Office with Polly Dieter in 2024. Working with, and seeing the passion in, such dedicated volunteers got her hooked. Rachel’s greatest joy is in seeing how the collective action of individuals can make a difference. She is looking forward to helping everyone find their voice and role in fighting the rising tide of fascism and building a stronger democracy.
