January Caucus Cancelled + New Leadership News
Our January Caucus to elect officers is officially cancelled. Not because of drama. Not because of chaos. But because, per our Call to Caucus, if only one person files for each office by the deadline, those candidates are automatically elected.
That’s exactly what happened. One candidate for every office, filed on time, ready to serve. Democracy, but make it efficient.
So with that, I’m delighted to introduce the new Officers of the Henrico County Democratic Committee for the 2026–27 term:
• Chair: Polly Dieter
• Vice-Chair for Operations: Amy Boyle
• Vice-Chair for Voter Outreach & Education: Dionna Gibson
• Vice-Chair for Precinct Operations: Rachel Lawrence
• Vice-Chair for Communications: Courtney Champion
• Vice-Chair for Membership: Ryan Burgess
• Treasurer: Noel Oakes
• Secretary: Claiborne Yarbrough
• Assistant Secretary: Duke Hawkins
• Immediate Past Chair: Alsúin Creighton-Preis
I’ll be sticking around on the Executive Committee as Immediate Past Chair, which makes this feel less like a goodbye and more like a thoughtful handoff. I’m genuinely excited to see some fresh faces step into leadership, and just as glad to have familiar, steady hands continuing on. I’ve worked closely with all of these folks, and the committee could not be in better hands.
Even though the caucus is cancelled, we’re still gathering. Join us Monday, January 12th at 7pm at Waygone Brewery (10602 Patterson Ave, at Pump & Patterson) for a pre-session send-off with Senator Schuyler Van Valkenburg, Delegates Destiny LaVere Bolling and Rodney Willett, and Delegate-elect May Nivar.
